AQUA 2000 Orion Activated Carbon System

Water, being a natural solvent, dissolves and absorbs a
wide range of chemicals, organic matter, dirt, tastes, and
odors. While some of these can be detected by smell or
taste, others, such as Volatile Organic Compounds, are
seldom detectable by the senses.

What makes carbon so valuable in the processing of
water is its ability to adsorb and remove many of these
organic compounds. (Adsorption is the ability of one substance
to attract and hold onto molecules of another substance.)
Carbon, when activated, possesses a special combination of
physical and chemical characteristics that give it a unique affinity
for adsorbing organics.

Chlorine, which is widely used to disinfect water, imparts
unpleasant tastes and odors to the water. And when it is
combined with certain organic elements, chlorine can actually
create compounds which may have long term adverse health
effects.

The ability of carbon to remove chlorine is different than
its ability to remove organics. Carbon forms a chemical
bond with the chlorine. After a time, the bond breaks and
the chlorine goes back into the water as a harmless chloride.
Thus, carbon doesn't remove chlorine, it literally destroys it.

The Aqua 2000 Orion Activated Carbon System supplies
a large column of activated carbon through which water
passes, thus reducing or eliminating chlorine and other
organic compounds. The System is designed to be easily
serviced so when the activated carbon needs to be replaced,
it can be done simply and inexpensively.

Healthy potassium pellets can be used instead of salt pellets.

Operational, maintenance and replacements are essential for the product to perform as stated. Refer to owner's manual for these requirements. Substances removed by Aqua 2000 water treatment systems may not be in your water.

Do not use where the water is microbiologically unsafe or with water of unknown quality without adequate disinfection before or after the unit.
